6 Minute Challenge-

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

So many bodies have been found in these woods, they call it the murder mile.

Not a single person has ever been caught dropping off their dead weights, no murder has ever been solved, most bodies go unidentified, unclaimed, abandoned.

You can’t eat the fruit from the trees, nor eat fresh from its springs, as the amount of blood the soil has soaked up during the centuries has poisoned everything that grows here.

Surveillance has been put up, fences 10 foot high barred access yet year after year more and more bodies are found, each more brutalised than the last, each death more gruesome.

But there is a new theory, people who live near the woods have whispered about it for years as they pull their hoods up and shiver, walking as fast as they can away from the creepy corpse of trees.

Sure, the odd murderer might take advantage of the reputation and dump a body there still but things have changed, nature has turned and the earth and the things that grow there have gotten so used to the taste of blood, they’ve taken over the killing.

Written for and inspired by The 6 Minute Challenge.

I didn’t do very well today, only managed 187 words, I haven’t done any editing other than fix spelling mistakes so it’s definitely not the best writing I can do, I was quite distracted today too and that’s my excuse!

Thank you for reading, if you’d like to support me you could buy me a coffee
