A poem- Fear

I just didn’t have the energy or brainpower required to write an original piece this week, this poem is one I wrote quite a while ago but one I still find relevant to this day. I hope you enjoy it.

I fear that while I’m sleeping, my demons are awake
I fear they prey upon my dreams, hoping my soul will break
I don’t know if I should sleep, or lay awake all night?
Silent figures dance at the edge of my sight
Sleep they seem to whisper, deep within my mind
Sleep they say and everything will be just fine
So I lay down and close my eyes and wish with all my might
That day will come and kill the monsters leaving only light
